Rejoice, Weary World!

We sometimes just get to not really "hearing" the Christmas songs that are everywhere we go. But, whether it's called"Happy Holidays" or "Season's Greetings," what other time of the year is the Message of God being openly heard simply in the Christmas Carols! Instead of tuning out the music this time of year, when you're out shopping, stop and think about the music that is telling everyone about Jesus!

Joy to the world, the Lord is come! .... do you feel the thrill of hope because the weary world rejoices! What better time to try to remember to do our part to help the weary world rejoice ... not to get too busy in the "trappings" (or traps that steal our time and joy) ...
Oh holy night! The stars are brightly shining,
It is the night of the dear Saviour's birth.
Long lay the world in sin and error pining,
Till He appear'd and the soul felt its worth.
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices,
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.

October Birthdays & Family Fish Fry

We had our Annual October Family Birthday Get-Together Saturday night.
Here's part of the birthday crew, blowing out their birthday cake candles :)
*** Rhonda, Dawg/David, Dad/Papa, and Pam ***
(Jacob had to be on duty, and Wyatt didn't get to come ...
but, he gets to have his own 2nd birthday party will be next weekend :)

This was the first time in years & years & years (no one can remember for sure how long) since brother David has been home for his birthday! Pat decided to give him back the Porky Pig Cookie Jar that she had stolen from him years ago :) It's been in the family as far back as us kids can remember. It's not filled with homemade cookies like it used to have though :)
Gene handled the Fish Fry ... Mom, Pam & Dad are
having their pre-sampling taste ...
... and Jack is waiting for someone to toss him a bite :)
It doesn't look like Wess, Jason, or David are sharing theirs!

..... and the kids played
... and we all ate fish, and cake & the best ice cream we've ever tasted
... and just had a Good Time !
Thankful we all make the effort and take the time to Get Ourselves Together !!!
(Check out Rhonda & Kristal's Blogs, they will probably have some more pictures that I didn't catch!)

Crosses Creek "Decoration"

The 4th Sunday of August is Crosses Creek "Decoration Day." For those of you not in rural Arkansas, we don't "do" Memorial Day ... every community cemetary has their own official Decoration Day. So, today we met for some "old time sangin" & "dinner on the grounds." The Crosses Creek church/school house is just down the road from the Warford farm, where Gene and all his family have been "forever" :) On the left are a few photos ... and also added some Vicky sent ...
